One Week \\ One Mix

Spotify

Don’t have Spotify? Download it here! While there are options asking for money, the basic version is free. What that means is that you get ads and can’t stream content to your phone, but the free version should allow you to make playlists and post them to the blog.

Spotify does have some limitations. While it will link to your itunes account (or whatever else you use for mp3’s), it doesn’t recognize songs that aren’t in its library.

For that reason, it’s a good idea to build playlists using its library. Thankfully, Spotify’s library is fairly expansive and always growing. However, there are songs that it doesn’t have, including a lot of missing mix tape releases (ironic, no?).

You also can’t edit songs using i-tunes and expect them to remain edited in Spotify.

There might be other issues, but for the most part, these are the biggest ones. If anyone encounters more problems, please hit me up via the contact section, linked off the main page. Thanks!

About

The mix tape. The mix CD. The playlist. How do you choose which song to start? How do you choose which song to finish? How do you choose the theme, the sequence, the variety of musical styles? And what does that say about you?

Inspired by the excellent blog OneWeek//OneBand, this is a place to discover new music and learn about how people approach the art of the mix. Each week, a different writer will build a Spotify playlist, writing about their selections, explaining their choices and sequencing, building on their themes, and creating an epic mix for all of us to enjoy. Check out the rules and contact me to add your name to the list of mixologists And enjoy the songs.
