The Rules
Each week, a new writer assembles a new Spotify playlist. They begin on Monday and end on Sunday.
The writer submits three to four songs per day to the blog using Spotify, adding an html link to the playlist (using the Audio feature). With each added song, or alteration, the writer should write something about their selection. Why this song? Why this artist? Why the sequencing? Is it something personal? Does it fit with the theme of the mix? You could move songs around too, but if you do you should explain your reasoning. You could give background information on the song and/or artist, but ultimately this is about you and the way you construct a mix, so consider that as well when you write about your selections.
While you’re at it, if there are other things related to your mix (pictures, links, articles, interviews), you should feel free to link those as well.
The only other rules are fairly straightforward:
You should post at least 18 songs and 25 songs at the most.
Your mix could have some kind of theme, whether it’s related to the musical selections, something personal, something seasonal, whatever you want. At the beginning of the week, you should establish your theme and when you write about your songs, you should mention why the songs your’e adding are relevant to your theme.
The length of your mix should be able to fit onto a 80 minute mix CD. It should be between 70 to 80 minutes.
